Family Support Services
Addiction is often not only a problem for the individual but also for the family or significant others of the person suffering from the problem. However, despite the fact that people living in relation to the sufferer are often severely affected by addiction, the isolation, stigma, fear of judgement and shame associated with it, can inhibit people from accessing help.
Recognising the importance of the wider relationships in addiction, DAF offers individual counselling for family members/significant others. This is a safe and secure way to explore the dynamics of living with addiction and to help the individual to find solkutions and to 'break the cycles' within which they are living.
DAF also runs a couples counselling service for people who would prefer to explore the dynamics of their relationships together, with an experienced facilitator to enable this to happen.
